Connecting Whidbey Island to the mainland of Washington State is this fabulous structure built in the early 1930"s. The waters below narrow causing swirls and patterns as it rushes between the Puget Sound and The Straight of Juan de Fuca. The other way to get over to Whidbey Island is via Auto Ferry from Mukilteo Harbor. Mukilteo is a fun place to visit as well…
There are sidewalks on either side of the bridge (perfect for sunrise/sunset shots) and some nearby hiking trails. At the waters edge is a fisherman"s paradise where they reel in large fresh salmon form the banks.
Like most of Washington"s public lands you"ll need a parking permit. I believe they are about $5/day at each required location or you can buy an annual pass good at all locations for $30.
